So far, this week is looking MUCH better for my Fantasy Football teams.
(however, lest I get TOO cocky & ahead of myself, my 1st win came in week 3 last year. Then I went on to lose the next 6 games again...hopefully history is NOT repeating itself).
Anyway...right now in my 1st Fantasy Football league (which Wiccachicky started) I'm winning 78.79 to 68.98. Nacho Mama's Boys still has to play Priest Holmes & Eddie Kennison this evening (GO CHIEFS!). My opponent is done for the week. THIS win is in the BAG.
In my 2nd Fantasy Football League, Saturday Night QB's, (where I'm the commish) I'm winning by a smaller margin & we both have players yet to go tonight. Hiccuping Heroes still has to play Samie Parker this evening (GO CHIEFS). My opponent has Larry Johnson (GO CHIEFS again!). The score is currently 87.37 to 72.84. We'll see where we end up.
*I just opened up my Solitaire game & the deck is changed. I didn't do it. Also, someone turned my computer off yesterday, b/c when I got back to the office at 8pm last night (don't ask) I had to turn it back on. >:o(
*I really like Rilo Kiley. I also (sadly) am very amused by the new Bloodhound Gang song: Foxtrot. It's about doing the deed & employs every euphemism I've ever heard & nine million more that I haven't.
*J finds out today if he'll be moving to AZ next month. Backstory on that: he was contacted a few weeks ago by a 2nd headhunting company (one who'd hired him right out of the Navy...he was laid off from that job due to computer economy downturn) about a job in AZ. Had a 40 minute telephone interview/skills assesment yesterday. *GULP*
*I miss my gramma & really wanted my teddy bear last night (the one she & grandpa gave me when I was 8) b/c I was feeling ooky.
*I HATE allergies. I feel as if my eyeballs are swimming in sinus fluid. And my head feels weird & kinda spacey. That's W/O medicine. (whee!)
*AZ is HOT.
*The only good thing about winter is that most plants are dead & so my allergies are much better (except for the dust thing)
*I HATE the smell of fresh popcorn. For some reason it always makes me think of dirty diaper pail (as in, urine on cloth diapers). Ick. Particularly an issue w/ microwave popcorn.
*I need to go shopping for laundry stuff & hair goop & groceries on Friday. And, looks like I need to use this check to pay rent, phone bill & one of my store card bils. *sigh* J keeps joking that I need a sugar daddy to take care of me so I don't have to worry about money. I only want one if he's applying.
*I really want to win U2 tickets.
*I'm excited it's almost the Halloween season: wanna go haunted housing. BOO!
Hopefully this will work (it's certainly taking long enough for the damn page to load)
I never know what to call my poems (title them, whatever) But...this one I started the other day & finished yesterday. This angst & what-have-you that I'm feeling related to relocation is apparently pretty good fodder for creativity.
Sometimes I look at you while you're there sleeping so peacefully and I wonder is this what our kids would look like all sweet and relaxed, untroubled kinda pouty at times would they have your blue eyes or mine? would they have your smile? my thick curly hair? your brown, my blonde? would they have my allergies your sense of humor your teeth? my nose? I wonder these things while you're there sleeping [and I know it's cheesy] my heart caught still in my chest just for a moment realizing I'm looking at our future
Still have been really busy at work. Free moment before I head back to a high school to do more interviews for volunteers. I'm headed to a private catholic girls school. High schoolers crack me up.
I want cookies. Hmmm...if I wasn't broke, I'd stop at Eileen's. If you've never had Eileen's Colossal Cookies, you're missing out.
I miss you all here in tBlog land. Wish that the site wasn't so clogged w/ spam & that I wasn't so busy. *sigh*
Marina (who's now a blogspot blogger *pout*), JennJr, & I'm sure a whole bunch've other people have done this meme. So, now I am too (b/c I'm a meme junky, a follower if you will...)
A Meme of Threes
THREE THINGS THAT SCARE ME:
Crickets
Heights
Change (not like coins & stuff, but the big scary type of change)
THREE PEOPLE WHO MAKE ME LAUGH:
Justin My Brother
Kittie
THREE THINGS I LOVE:
Sleeping in Pizza Oatmeal Choc Chip Cookies
THREE THINGS I HATE:
Onions (& most other “smelly” veggies)
Cooking for 1 person Feeling like I won’t have enough money to pay my bills
THREE THINGS I DON'T UNDERSTAND:
Homophobia Calculus Why people are reluctant to volunteer (even if it’s just something small)
...the word "but". It sucks. It inspires anxiety. The ultimate caveat. It's just begging to set up a contradiction. I know I'm probably over-reacting but (aha, there it is!) I can't seem to help it.
So, I'll worry & stew & that's exactly what he's afraid of me doing. It's in my nature to do so. It's nice to have someone who knows me so well...why doesn't he truly...
Oh, nevermind...my thoughts are getting stuck & all twisted around & I'm making it worse.
i wrote this at the end of August...let me know what you think
my heart knew you before I knew you my heart recognized something in you which fit something in me so my heart took over my head took the backseat and let my heart drive for awhile because my heart knew you and it knew that i love you even before I knew you
I had the bright idea to watch one w/ J this week. Lately we've been basically meeting up at the very end of the day (at my place or his) & then just falling into bed (& most of the time, just conking out for sleep. No "fun" or anything). And, that's not good. So the past few days we've been trying to hang out a bit before we hit the hay. Last night we watched the Grudge after he got out of class (he just started classes last week: back to school for the 1st time since HS for him...aren't you all so proud? I am) (*smile*).
THAT MOVIE IS FREEEAAAAKY! It's really gross too. I know it's been out for ages, but movies are so expensive in the theatre anymore & I'd rather rent scary movies than see them on the BIG BIG screen, ya know? Anyway...
I think Raimi & the sound team (editors, fx, etc) did a particularly good job. The creaky noises, the weird cat stuff, the creepy throat thing: if you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't & you like to watch scary movies, then I'd recommend it. Euggghhhh *shudder*
I'm just glad I didn't have nightmares (thank you Tylenol PM!)
I don't have a title for this yet, but...wanted to post it anyway (acutually, not many of my poems have titles...oh well)
"You and I both loved what you and I spoke of..." the lyrics of Jason Mraz fill the air and thoughts of you and I fill my head you and I, a mystery you and I, what should've been 'meant to be' you and I, friends before lovers you and I, lovers, almost then nothing "not so little you and I anymore..." you and I seemed destined no surprise, just expectation you and I, it didn't work you and I, friends as it is supposed to be
Well, so far it seems my 2 fan football teams: Nacho Mama's Boys & Hiccupping Heroes are sucking it up. This sucks for a few reasons. 1) I hate to lose. 2) I talked smack & hate to eat crow. 3) People will make fun of me & s/x I don't take that well either. However I am usually pretty quick to admit when I don't know what I'm doing & football is one of those things. I just wish I had someone sitting over my shoulder, whispering in my ear each week "put him in, HE'LL score more points than that other guy...use THAT WR this wk, & bench that other guy." But, alas, no such person or thing exists. If anyone feels like helping a girl out, let me know. Getting beat by 40 points is downright humiliating. Having New England's Defense score just 4 points sure as shit sucks too.
Well, since I can't blow the bank on new clothes & shoes for fall (though I did buy 2 new pairs of dress pants a few weeks ago...I'd buy more too, if I could)...thought I'd change up the look of the blog for the season.
I really wish it WAS fall. Fall is my favorite season here in the MidWest. I love all the trees changing colors & the cool crisp air (when it gets here). My brother & I love how fall smells too. Kinda like wood smoke, baled hay, apple cider: all rolled into one. I can't wait till I can make a trip to the nearby apple orchard w/ my folks for cider (they have a spigot to take samples from...I stand there & refil my cup for about 5 minutes!) & apples & apple pie, cooked fresh & served w/ vanilla ice cream. YUM! Superb. I'm tellin ya.
I'd love to see New England in the fall though...wow.
I finally have a few. I need to explain that last night...my computer at work was being UBER slow. So, I copied the meme from Wiccachicky & just pasted & published. Then, I went home to J's house & used his computer to actually answer the questions w/ MY ANSWERs. So...
Yeah, work is still really crazy, but I actually don't have anywhere to be today. Instead, I have a shit-ton of phone calls to make. What's a bit better now is that our database (w/ most all of the informatoin we need to DO our jobs here at where I work) is now finally cooperating a bit. Apparently one of our part-time people broke it over the holiday weekend. So, so far this week it has NOT worked. Last night my PD (aka bosslady) called her hubby (our default IT guy) & he talked her thru setting up a new something'er'other for it so it will work. *sigh* Which means I ought to end this post & actually go make those damn phone calls. Since, I only get to be here till 5:30 tonight, b/c I go work at PJ's. Hmmmph.
So I swiped this meme from Wiccachicky, who swiped it and then modified it. But, I actually need to finish it, my own way...not hers.
1. ONE OF YOUR SCARS, HOW DID YOU GET IT? The only scar that I can see right now (I'm reatively lucky, but also basically a chicken shit w/ a poor memory: aka have done not much "scar worthy") is this little tiny thing on my base of my left thumb. I was moving my bed & scratched my hand. Yup. Well...it's a QUEEN bed at least!
2. WHAT IS ON THE WALLS IN YOUR ROOM? My shrine to the Wizard of Oz. You think I'm kidding. I'm not! Also, pictures of my family, a calendar, bugs (I live in a basement apt...gross!) & 3 pictures of angels (like, arty things, more than religious things)
3. WHAT DOES YOUR CELL PHONE LOOK LIKE? It's dark blue. Kinda a waxy plastic. The keys light up blue. It's a Motorola V262 or something. It's alright, but the pre-programmed ringtones kinda suck.
4. WHAT MUSIC DO YOU LIKE TO LISTEN TO? Lately I haven't had time for anything more than the radio, if that even. Although w/ my patience close to nonexistent, I'm so annoyed w/ the djs & so I keep switching to "Classical KVNO". Though I channel surf again if opera comes on.
5. DO YOU KNOW WHAT TIME YOU WERE BORN? 11:36 p.m.
6. WHAT DO YOU WANT MORE THAN ANYTHING RIGHT NOW? To not have to go to work in the morning. A magic wand that would undo the destruction of Katrina (though it's partially for selfish reasons, I HATE paying over $3 a gallon for gas...but seriously, that's just horrible. ALL of it). I'd like to talk to my gramma again...To not have to worry about money (I'd work anyway, I don't do well being bored)
7. WHAT DO YOU MISS AT TIMES? I miss having my friends in the next room over (college). I miss wearing pajama pants during the day (not on the weekend: college). I miss family members who've passed on. I miss the days of not worrying about what I'm eating.
8. WHAT IS YOUR MOST PRIZED POSSESSION? I'm so shallow...this question is hard to answer. I guess my car, b/c I need it to do most everything. But, I'd be beside myself w/ grief if I lost the purple teddy bear my grandparents gave me when I was 8.
9. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SMELL? I have to pick just one? Clean laundry. Mmmm...so comforting.
10. DO YOU GET CLAUSTROPHOBIC? Depends on the situation & who's there too.
11. IF YOU DIED TOMORROW: Everyone would know I loved them, but I'd worry a) who's going to repay all the money I owe? b) what will my friends & family do w/o me? & I'd be really mad I never got to have kids...
12. THE LAST PERSON TO MAKE YOU CRY? Person? I cried the other night b/c I was tired/cranky/J & I were having a spat. But, that was just silly. I bawled the other night when I was singing along w/ Sugarland's "Baby Girl" I hate PMS. Other people don't usually make me cry...I make me cry (s/x you just need it!)
13. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE COLOGNE / PERFUME? Whatever J wears is pretty good (one of those Axe scents). On me I like Lucky or I'd love to have Amour Amour by Cacheral (it's like $50 a bottle though!)
14. WHAT KIND OF HAIR DO YOU LIKE ON THE OPPOSITE SEX? Depends...the only killer is if it's longer than mine. I'M the girl dammit, I get the long hair! I'm usually attracted to guys w/ dark or red hair though. I guess I want to be the only blonde too!
15. WHERE CAN YOU SEE YOURSELF BEING PROPOSED TO AT? I have no idea. I think I'll leave it up to him...I just hope it's creative.
16. WHO DID YOU LAST PISS OFF (or something like that...mouse craziness accidently deleted the question) I annoy J quite a bit...probably I made him mad recently too. Either that or some random driver on the road...
18. DO YOU SPEAK A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE? Only Pig-Latin. And some vary basic Spanish.
19. WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO TELL SOMEONE HOW MUCH THEY MEAN TO YOU? Just tell them. Although, sometimes that's hard. I guess I just try very hard to be really nice to the people I care about.
20. WHAT IS THE ONE NUMBER YOU CALL OFTEN? J! He's usurped Mom & Dad as the # most called. They're still #2.
21. WHAT ANNOYS YOU MOST? People who drive under the speed limit! ARGH! Pointing fingers instead of just fixing the damn problem (figure out whose fault it is later people!) Red tape (especially at work)
22. HAVE YOU EVER DONE A PRANK CALL? Back in grade school. Silly & dumb.
23: WHAT WERE YOU DOING BEFORE YOU FILLED OUT THIS SURVEY? I fell asleep on the couch.
24. WHY DID YOU FILL OUT THIS SURVEY? I like meme's. I think I'm going to make up one of my own.
25. WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF ALCOHOL BECAME ILLEGAL? I'd be sad & pissed off. I dunno...probably try to find ways to drink it illegally (I think I'd want it more if it was illegal. I don't drink too much normally.) Or, maybe I'd just stop... who knows.
Thankfully, I'm not an insect or whatever a bee is exactly...anyway...
Work has officially swallowed me whole. My crappy or nonexistent posts last week have stemmed from the fact that I've been actually out of the office & working. Such a cruel shock to the system after the lackadaisical summer I had.
In fact, this wk will be even more of a shock to the system: J starts classes (1 Tues nights & 1 Wed nights) on the 7th. 6 till 10pm. Our tons of time together will be whittled to about nil. *sigh* AND *double sigh*
So, if I don't write very much for awhile, it's because I'm work work working. (whee) Think of me & wish me good high school kid vibes: we need a ton more new volunteers this year!
AND...go ahead & chuckle at my fan football teams. I hopefully will keep everyone kinda posted on those results too. Hasta la pasta! (mmm...food)
That's the name of my 2nd fantasy football team. They're a part of the league that I set up, Saturday Night QB's. We just drafted today. I draft for Wiccachicky's League (Captain's Crew) tomorrow. I may be there for the live draft (I hope), but I'm not sure.
This is my Hiccupping Hereos Roster. What do ya'll think? How'd I do drafting this year?
If you couldn't tell, the Chiefs & the Packers are my 2 fave teams. Hopefully they'll do well this year. And, hopefully I won't come in last place. Wish me luck at tomorrow's draft, will ya?

Your Life Path Number Is 11
11
Your life path is greatly associated with spiritual awareness.
As one of the two master numbers, the 11 yields understanding and knowledge beyond the grasp of others.
The attitude toward life of those possessing this Life Path is somewhat extreme; extremely intuitive, avant-garde, idealistic, visionary, and cultured.
These extremes make you an interesting, if unusual person, with much to offer society.
The Life Path 11 person is deep-thinking, and you are no doubt interested in understanding many of life's mysteries and more intriguing facets.
Your inventive mind and broad-minded views will permit you to succeed in life in any number of ventures.
You can best serve society, however, in those endeavors utilizing your skills of counseling and guidance.
Much of your idealism is people oriented and quite humanitarian in nature.
You expect a great deal of yourself and of those to whom you are close.
On the negative side, there is a lot of nervous tension associated with the 11 life path, and you can be a difficult person to deal with because of this.
For this reason, relationships, at times, can be difficult.
This is a Life Path that seems to feature broad mood swings between the elation and depression.
You are likely to have trouble making decisions and getting your life in gear, so to speak.
There is a tendency for the 11 to harbor feelings of uneasiness, and dissatisfaction with accomplishments and personal progress in life.
Your grandiose schemes usually make sense, but you can get off the track and they can be very impractical.
You have a very distinct side that lacks common sense, and you are quite often unable to distinguish between fantasy and reality.
In this regard, you are perhaps more of a dreamer than a doer.
When you do get on target, your ideas seem to have been inspired on high.
Perhaps you are not a leader, but you are a visionary and a very talented idea person.
