Actually, maybe I need to work on my subtraction. Just finished those blessed taxes & when looking over my Feds Return, I noticed I apparently can't subtract. Instead of getting a $270 refund, I'm only getting $70. Yup, whoo-hoo. That's not even a minimum payment on my credit card! Since I'm not all that clued-in related to $$$ & taxes, I'm going to blame my paltry refund on G-Dub's lame-brain politics & tax cuts for the rich. Yeah, they're really helping Middle-Class America bud. Yup. Way to go.

FINALLY!
03.31.05 (11:37 am)   [edit]

Ok, so I know that many of you may be shocked to learn this (if you know me really well that is), but USUALLY I file my taxes really early. For the past few years I've had them done in February and turned in & everything w/ $ back to me by March. Not so this year. This year, not only have I not filed yet (which makes me very anxious), but I also did them all by myself for once. See, math really kinda terrifies me. In high school & college, my parents just had them done, which was no big deal b/c I usually didn't make much $ anyway & so on & so forth. After college, I had various friends help me, including J, the roommate of my ex, T. J helped me 2 yrs in a row, but last year he said that THIS year I needed to do them by myself--I was on my own. So, I very carefully followed the IRS instructions in their little booklet for the 1040A. But then I got to my state return, and all hell broke loose. Speficially b/c they sent me a telefile thingamajig & I didn't understand it. I just wanted a form, like I'd had for the last 4 years. But, alas, they didn't send me one. AND, I couldn't find a state form & book for the life of me ANYWHERE in this damn city. So, I was almost ready to flip.

But...yeay for Moms. My mom gave me a state form & book today. And NOW, I can do my taxes. Hoorah! (never thought you'd see that sentence printed anywhere, eh?)

Yeah, I tend to do things to the nth degree...thought I'd check this thingie one last time b4 I left work. Wondering...any idea what I need to set my timezone as to reflect Central Time Zone (Chicago, etc)? B/c I'm not quite sure I got that figured out.

Anyway...A heads up for ya'll out there...if I don't post for a few days it's b/c I'm otherwise indisposed. No, not hiding from the mob (as if they'd show up in THIS state, NOT a part of the witness protection program that is). It's American Forensics Association, NATIONAL SPEECH TOURNAMENT (actually the AFA-NIET) this wknd. And, as it's in a nearby state, held at the University where my friend K, got her Master's degree, AND, K is the current speech/forensics coach at our alma mater, I'm a "hired judge". I get to tell college speechies all weekend, "nice effort" "good visual aides" & the like. I'm excited to get out Dodge & go have some fun. But, it sounds like they'll be running me all over campus, not leaving much time to get to a computer. So...

I'll have an update (esp if I learn anything interesting) for sure when I return from the land of Oz.

And no, I'm NOT talking about using meth, which seems to be a growing problem here in the MidWest, but working on the look of this thingie. Right now it occurs to me that my colors are perhaps a bit bright. They may change a bit till I get something figured out that I really like. That's one of the things that I'm sure drives my friends nuts--my incessant pickiness, which seems to go hand in hand w/ my inability to make decisions. *sigh*

Yo
03.30.05 (1:50 pm)   [edit]

Well, this is it, my initial, first-time-ever, blog posting. I decided I'd give this blogging thing a try mostly b/c my friend, M, has a blog of her own. And, well, it seems like fun & I always have a lot of random thoughts going on through my head. Maybe I ought to "write them down" & let everyone know what's been going on with me.

Your Life Path Number Is 11
11
Your life path is greatly associated with spiritual awareness. As one of the two master numbers, the 11 yields understanding and knowledge beyond the grasp of others. The attitude toward life of those possessing this Life Path is somewhat extreme; extremely intuitive, avant-garde, idealistic, visionary, and cultured. These extremes make you an interesting, if unusual person, with much to offer society. The Life Path 11 person is deep-thinking, and you are no doubt interested in understanding many of life's mysteries and more intriguing facets. Your inventive mind and broad-minded views will permit you to succeed in life in any number of ventures. You can best serve society, however, in those endeavors utilizing your skills of counseling and guidance. Much of your idealism is people oriented and quite humanitarian in nature. You expect a great deal of yourself and of those to whom you are close. On the negative side, there is a lot of nervous tension associated with the 11 life path, and you can be a difficult person to deal with because of this. For this reason, relationships, at times, can be difficult. This is a Life Path that seems to feature broad mood swings between the elation and depression. You are likely to have trouble making decisions and getting your life in gear, so to speak. There is a tendency for the 11 to harbor feelings of uneasiness, and dissatisfaction with accomplishments and personal progress in life. Your grandiose schemes usually make sense, but you can get off the track and they can be very impractical. You have a very distinct side that lacks common sense, and you are quite often unable to distinguish between fantasy and reality. In this regard, you are perhaps more of a dreamer than a doer. When you do get on target, your ideas seem to have been inspired on high. Perhaps you are not a leader, but you are a visionary and a very talented idea person.
